Cluttered screens, with countless windows, can be avoided if you work on tabbed interfaces. This is a constant problem with Windows Explorer. Even in the latest Windows version, if you have to work with several folders, you have to open multiple explorer windows. This is where Tablacus Explorer comes in. It looks and feels like Windows Explorer, but it offers a wide variety of useful features, including the possibility of working on multiple tabs or on multiple panels, performing actions with mouse gestures and so on. It allows you to switch between different layouts and it provides full support for add-ons.

Tablacus Explorer is free and open source and you can run it immediately, without going through an installation process. You just need to extract its files from an archive and run the executable. The application can be used on Windows 2000 or any later edition and it is compatible with 32 as well as 64-bit operating systems.

The user interface resembles a standard explorer window. Tabs can be created by double clicking next to an existing one. Additionally, the software allows you to go to a twin or quad-panel view mode, by clicking one of the options from the upper right corner of the window. The best part is that you may create tabs on each panel, which gives you the possibility of working with countless folders, in parallel, on the same user interface.

If you switch to a paneled view mode, you will be able to click and drag tabs, from one panel to another. Additionally, files can be copied or moved, by dragging and dropping them. The software displays the same context menu as Windows Explorer, when you right click a file or folder. Filtering files and folders by name is another possibility. You just need to type a keyword, in the appropriate input field, in the upper right area of the interface.

The layout of the interface is saved automatically, when you close the application. When you run it again, you will find all your tabs and panels exactly how you leave them. Furthermore, you can save your preferred layout as a file on the hard drive and load it when you need to. This gives you the possibility of switching between different layouts, depending on what folders and how many you have to work with.

Pros

Tablacus Explorer allows you to work with your files and folders in a familiar and customizable environment and it places a wide range of tools at your disposal. You can work on multiple tabs and panels, perform actions by clicking and dragging or with mouse gestures and more.

Cons

There are no serious drawbacks to mention. Anything you can do in Windows Explorer can be done faster and easier with Tablacus Explorer.
